I was born and raised in South Africa but have spent most of my life in the U.S. At 18 years old, I moved to London, England for two years where I worked in hospitality and enjoyed my newly found freedom. Before returning to Atlanta for university, I spent a very hot and smelly month camping around Europe with thirty other people.
I finally came home to attend Kennesaw State University and, in 2010, graduated with a degree in fine art. After five years in college, I decided it was time to travel again. I moved to Brisbane, Australia for a year where I worked for a Japanese mining company on weekdays and traveled the country on weekends.
I flew home to Atlanta in 2012 and joined a mid-sized commercial real estate firm where I initially worked as an executive assistant before moving into an investor relations role a year later. In 2015, I was recruited for another IR position at a large multifamily real estate firm in Charleston. After seven years in the real estate industry, I decided to change directions entirely and pursue a more fulfilling and creative career path in user interface design. My fine arts degree is finally coming in handy!
With my new, flexible schedule, I started bartending and, while house-bound due to Covid-19, took the opportunity to do an online bootcamp for user interface design through CareerFoundry. I attained my certification early 2021 and am currently in search of new job opportunities in UI design.
